The gorgeous and graceful Charlotte Olympia Dellal, the mind behind the bold, creative and whimsical shoe label Charlotte Olympia, recently breezed into Neiman Marcus to personally introduce the "Cosmic Collection," her new line of zodiac-inspired shoes.
Houston shoe gals were treated to free flowing bubbly, savory bites, sweet treats, and in-depth astrological readings as they fawned over the new collection featuring colorful slippers and clutches embellished with astrological designs. No matter how your astrological stars align, Charlotte Olympia has a shoe that will let the world know what your exquisite style sensibilities are.
She understands that beautiful shoes hidden by a wedding dress can sometimes be a bit like beautiful lingerie.
Known as much for her signature spider web trademark (ingeniously inspired by the book Charlotte's Web) as she is for her beautiful '40s and '50s-inspired footwear (think feminine; "Old Hollywood" glam; animal prints; and lots of color, with just the right touch of whimsy and kitsch), the half-Brazilian half-English designer boldly wore leopard print platforms at her recent wedding underneath her resplendent, full-skirted wedding gown designed by friend Giambattista Valli.
Inspired from that moment to delve into distinctive shoe designs for the bride with a bit of flair, she understands that beautiful shoes hidden by a wedding dress can sometimes be a bit like beautiful lingerie. "Even though no one sees it, at least you know you're wearing it. It adds that attitude...only women can understand that," she told me.
Indeed, the ideal Charlotte Olympia woman is "someone who dresses from the feet up!"
Well said, Ms. Dellal, well said.
