Inside Scoop for NYFW Fall 2016: Real Clothes on Real People

Check out the street style and runway looks from NYFW Fall 2016 featuring TEXTURE, JUXTAPOSITION, BLING, POP OF COLOR & FAB BAG.

International style icons, fashion bloggers, and fashionistas were leading the way with their fierce style this NYFW Fall 2016.  Local Houston bloggers and fashion insiders withstood sub-arctic temperatures, snow, and torrential downpours rocking the most fabulous uncompromised style despite the weather challenges.

Fashion icon Blake Lively rocked the poppy motif Michael Kors dress. Florals in NYC in the Fall. Looks like they are finally picking up a few southern girl pointers starting with actually wearing COLOR.

Houston Blogger, Sarah Cooper of Simply Ollie, was seen following the floral COLOR trend while pretty in pink floral dress accented with a pink Vintage Contessa Chanel bag from her own collection.

My favorite accessory style in the form of the FAB BAG was carried by new mom, Blake Lively.  This amazing Chanel Bauble doubling as jewelry and a handbag represents the ultimate accessory.

Again, Sarah followed suit with a Vintage Contessa classic Chanel Double Flap bag to complete her black and white ensemble with the most classic FAB BAG.

Street Style Icon Olivia Palermo wore her own collection with Nordstrom mixing urban and boho styles.

International Blogger, Carrie Colbert of Wear + Where + Well, epitomized boho urban chic in this Sachin & Babi Dress mixed with a leather motorcycle jacket. The JUXTAPOSITION of leather in lace is so on trend. Especially mixing in the TEXTURE of an animal print bag

Sporting a casual look with a bit of BLING,  Lyndsey Zorich of L. Avenue walked the streets of NYC with a Vintage Chanel Magnifying Glass Necklace as her BLING on a basic blue and white stripe blouse, NY yellow cab color jacket with hip denim cool pocket jeans.

I’m so in love with the TEXTURE of her tulle cream and red skirt by Simone Rocha from LABORATORIA, with motorcycle leather jacket JUXTAPOSITION & FAB BAG, a red Hermes 25cm Birkin.

Taking to the runways I found inspiration in Diane Von Furstenberg‘s resurgence of feminist spirit in society, empowering women.

“If you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt” were the words of wisdom painted on the wall of a corridor in von Furstenberg’s Chelsea headquarters, the venue for Their Fall 2016 presentation.  Becoming the 1970s, her most enduring success: the simple, sexy wrap dress.

Its timelessness was highlighted by the full-length version sported by Karlie Kloss in Pavé-ed gold sequins. It’s attitude she’s selling, the more attitude the better.

Everyone was talking about the shift to fashion week as a direct-to-consumer spectacle. With many dissenting opinions, I loved the idea but was disappointed when I tried to shop both DVF and Michael Kors but was disappointed the spectacular prices didn’t make the websites for sale.

I applauded Michael Kors quirky take on classic cable knit sweaters, tweed pants and skirts in an interesting choice of both green and blue COLORs but couldn’t find any of the pieces on his site touting “buy the runway now.”

Oscar de la Renta, the consummate ladies who lunch designer, incorporated 18th-century French fabrics in their classic gorgeous gowns. I felt transformed to another time and place watching the runway. Loving the COLOR pink and the texture of the dress.
