Wearing Luxury Style in Winter White

Wearing Luxury Style in Winter White

Whether you hit the slopes of Vail Beaver Creek, stroll with your cavalier spaniel down the street, or make snow angels while your city is a winter wonderland, you always want to look your best for those snow-covered months.
I’ve pulled together a few ways to wear luxury style in winter white with inspiration from Dr. Zhivago’s Julie Christie & The Millionairess’ Sophia Loren.

Consider TEXTURE, JUXTAPOSITION, BLING, POP OF COLOR & A FAB BAG when styling your winter white.

Here are a few more tips.

1. Choose a version of white good for your complexion.

Consider adding shades of creameggshellivoryNavajo white and vanilla.

Take a cue from these celebrities that rocked winter white at the 2016 Golden Globes.

Alicia Vikander has emerged as a style star on a quick ascent. Her latest red carpet look was a white Louis Vuitton gown, with frills at the neck and shoulders.

This Grecian goddess is Saoirse Ronan. She is looking amazingly, classic Hollywood in Yves Saint Laurent Couture.

Taraji P. Henson picked stark white Stella McCartney with a glam train that flowed beautifully when she walked the red carpet.

2.  Mix shades of white and cream in different textures and weights to give dimension to your look.

In planning a stunning monochromatic look, choose different textures to create dimension while keeping all your pieces in the same tone.
Simply pair a cashmere sweater with a pencil skirt, or a partially sequined skirt with a crisp white shirt.
Consider throwing on a vintage mink coat over white jeans and a crew-neck for a chic, comfortable look with a Vail-ready vibe. You don’t have to be traveling somewhere fabulous to wear something fabulous.
I selected a vintage white mink fur coat, hat, and shoes with similar textures.
Using accessories of pearls or scarves in cream will add more layering and texture as well.

3. Go for tailored pieces.

The sleeker the lines of your pieces, the more slimming the look. I chose a cream Dolce Gabanna pencil skirt that was totally hidden by the white vintage fur coat.

4. Choose a consistent tone for your accessories as a “pop of color.”

I chose vintage sunglasses, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Damier Louis Vuitton Speedy all in similar brown and orange tones.

5. A Grown-up woman should avoid anything too virginal or bridal.

These sample sale, Christian Louboutin, one-of-a-kind, mink heeled shoes are a lot more va-va-voom than virginal or bridal.

6. Always put the lightest colors on your slimmest body part and place darker shades where you want to deflect attention.

My oversized vintage sunglasses add a lot of coverage from sun damage, and cover a bit of those little wrinkle lines by my eyes.

7. Limit your accessories to create a sophisticated, simple look.

Because of all the texture in my look today, I limited my bling to my GIA Certified custom designed wedding ring, Louis Vuitton costume jewelry, and fun phone case all from The Vintage Contessa.

8. I chose a simple vintage Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Speedy handbag to complete my look. This classic style is easy and durable for everyday use.

You may be surprised to know this was Louis Vuitton’s first style created in 1888, a canvas with alternating small brown and beige squares.
In 1996, Damier canvas released its classic brown tones and renamed Damier Ebene.  This canvas is favored by many celebrities including Beyoncé and Rihanna.
