Women Who Shape Houston

I was honored to join forces with fellow community advocates and fashionistas, fashion designer Hunter Bell, popular blogger Caroline Harper Knapp and Crime Stoppers of Houston to co-host the inaugural Women Who Shape Houston Luncheon  on September 5th at Tony’s Houston. Our event was focused on raising awareness about critical safety concerns affecting everyday women and the communities in which they live.

Prior to kicking off the panel of speakers at Tony’s Italian Restaurant, Rania Mankarious, CEO of CrimeStoppers, shared a few words along with us and announced the launch of our new podcast, Styling Social Justice, which addresses conversations to make tomorrow a better, healthier, safer place by empowering people to come together for public safety.

More than 100 of Houston’s most fashionable and philanthropic enjoyed a seated lunch and listened to eye-opening discussions led by Rachel Fischer, RN, Kathy McGibbon from nonprofit organization Elijah Rising, and Tony Leal, with Professional Protections & Investigations and former chief of the Texas Rangers. The crowd engaged in topics addressing the current state of commercial sexual exploitation and prevention tools against sexual assault, sex trafficking, bullying and date rape drugs.
