Q. OK, back to fashion. Top 3 Mirror/Mirror and Rebecca Spera tips for women to stay fashionable yet frugal (yes, we’re breaking one of our cardinal rules and using the f-word!). Ready. Set. Go.
- To appear polished professionally, look for clothes with structure. Spend less on the dress and more on the tailor making sure it fits your body properly. When the clothes fit the way they’re supposed to, you look thinner and more put together. Nobody will ever know if it’s a Prada dress or a Zara dress…they’ll just know it’s a fab dress!
- When you’re buying a piece of clothing, think of at least three ways you can wear it with items you already have in your closet. If you can’t come up with three pairings, put it back on the rack.
- It’s okay to have your splurge items. Some women love scarves, some jewelry, and others shoes. I happen to be luxury handbag-obsessed. That’s totally fine, but be smart! Save your money, buy it cash or don’t buy it. AND, I’m a HUGE advocate of buying luxury second-hand. I bought one handbag at retail and never again. Now, I buy used handbags for up to 60% off the retail price, and they’re just as beautiful. Just make sure to go to a reputable location, do your homework, ask for authenticity and serial numbers. I buy from www.thevintagecontessa.com.
