The Original Miami Beach Antique Show change of venue to the the Dade County Fair Grounds offered a new opportunity to learn about a new area of Miami, moving from Miami Beach to Coconut Grove.
We booked a property thru VRBO…The walls were paper thin but it was a clean, safe, secure building with parking, a pool, and a great coffee machine in the lobby. The staff was friendly and it was convenient, walking distance to most locations in Coconut Grove.
Our repeat breakfast favorite spot was the Indoor/outdoor restaurant, Coconut Grove Green Street. Our favorite choices on our carb filled “cheat day” were Nutella Filled French Toast and Banana Nutella French Toast.
Grove Bay Grill was our favorite chill dinner spot. The combination of live music, outside dining, overlooking Biscayne Bay while drinking wine eating Stone crab claws made for the perfect ending to a 10 hour work day. It certainly isn’t fancy but the live music and view added value where the menu fell short.
Glass and Vine is an Indoor /outdoor restaurant nestled in the midst of Peacock Park. We loved the alfresco dining relaxed mood set by the canopy of trees dotted with lights hanging overhead. Amazing grilled cauliflower. Nice vibe.
In Miami Beach our favorite “go-to” breakfast spot, News Cafe, always delivers . The classic style sidewalk cafe, is located at the corner of 8th Street and Ocean Drive in the Art Deco District of Miami Beach. It was a bit of a drive for us but was worth it to catch a glimpse of Miami Beach early morning. Its always a funny site to see the late night partiers who haven’t been to sleep, coming for breakfast as we are preparing for a 10 hour work day.
Staying in Coconut Grove, limited our nights out to “hip and cool” Miami Beach restaurants however, we found Komodo to be a great alternative, in Miami’s hip nearby Brickell neighborhood. Komodo is a three-story indoor/outdoor eatery and lounge that combines Southeast Asian cuisine with a South Florida vibe to raise the dining and nightlife experience. Its the “See and be seen” scene. We ordered shared plate style while enjoying great Friday night out vibe with a plethora of “pretty people” people watching. After a great dinner we walked upstairs to the dance club for cocktails and dancing.
