Is an Hermes Kelly or Birkin the Best Style for Me?
One of the most common questions we get is What is the difference between an Hermes Kelly and an Hermes Birkin? It’s understandable why said question would be asked because, to the naked eye, there aren’t many differences. However, we’re about to answer this age old question, as there are differences between the two and one might be better for you than another. And when investing in this ever so covetable piece, you want to make sure it fits in perfectly with your style and wardrobe. Spoiler Alert: It doesn’t matter if it’s a Kelly or a Birkin; either will fit in seamlessly.
The most ‘obvious’ difference is that the Birkin has two handles, and it’s a true tote bag,
meaning one you wouldn’t carry on your shoulder. It is wider than the Kelly, and thus, bigger and can hold more items.
If you have small children, you might want to consider the Kelly, as the detachable strap can come in handy when holding the groceries and your kids’ hands. This way, you can wear it on your shoulder or cross body.

However, if you’re one who likes to carry ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ in your bag, the Birkin would be for you, as it is wider and can hold much more.

The Kelly can look a tad more formal than the Birkin due to its more structured shape so if you’re going for a more ‘formal,’ less slouchy look, then the Kelly would be for you.
